About us
A coordinated effort to strengthen Sweden’s defence readiness
Sweden’s national security increasingly depends on the ability to mobilise innovation — quickly, securely, and across sectors. Yet military actors still lack structured access to the civilian tech ecosystem, making it harder to engage with emerging technologies and initiate strategic collaboration.
This initiative was taken to close that gap. We connect urgent defence needs with relevant civilian capabilities — offering targeted matchmaking, hands-on coaching, and access to real-world testing and funding.
This is especially critical in fast-moving technology domains with growing defence relevance: artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, next-generation connectivity, quantum technology, energy solutions, materials and advanced production technologies, and biotechnology. By connecting these domains with real-world defence needs, Tactic helps ensure that their full potential is recognised and realised in a security context.
The initiative is led by four established organisations with complementary strenghts:
- Kista Science City – Connects public and private stakeholders through coordinated programmes and national-level public sector collaboration.
- STING – Accelerates startup growth through tailored coaching, access to capital, and structured support for early-stage teams.
- THINGS – Links deep tech startups with industry through technology scouting, hands-on matchmaking, and collaboration formats.
- KTH Innovation – Translates academic research into real-world solutions through innovation support, IP strategy, and tech transfer.
As civilian technologies evolve at speed, this model of structured collaboration becomes even more critical. We enable fast, secure innovation — with a clear focus on dual-use development, international reach, and real-world deployment.
